SMT Tube Feeder is a flexible feeding solution designed to deliver tube packaged components accurately to pick and place machines. It is suitable for components that are difficult or uneconomical to package on tape and reel, including SOIC and PLCC devices, connectors, switches, oscillators, relays, power transistors, and other irregularly shaped parts. By presenting components one at a time at a controlled pickup position, the feeder helps maintain stable orientation and reliable vacuum pickup during automated PCB assembly. Tube feeders are widely used for mixed technology production and can work alongside tape and tray feeders on the same SMT line.
In practical operation, operators load component tubes into adjustable guide channels or a multi tube magazine. A motorized pusher, gravity mechanism, or vibration system advances each component toward the pickup point, while sensors can monitor tube presence, component availability, and tube end status. Adjustable guides allow one unit to support different tube sizes and component profiles, reducing changeover time and eliminating the need for frequent equipment replacement. For high volume production, stacked tube designs can automatically switch to the next tube when the current one is empty, helping reduce line stoppages and manual intervention.

In industrial automation manufacturing, SMT Tube Feeder is used to introduce tube packaged components into an otherwise highly automated PCB assembly process. Operators load power modules, optocouplers, DIP ICs, thyristors, or TRIACs into dedicated tubes, and the feeder advances them individually toward the machine pickup area. The placement head then transfers each component onto the PCB according to the programmed layout. This enables parts traditionally supplied in sticks or tubes to be processed together with reel and tray components on one production platform.
For industrial control boards, DIP ICs and optocouplers can be fed for logic control, isolation, and signal interface circuits. On servo and VFD lines, power modules and thyristor based devices are presented for inverter, braking, rectification, and motor switching sections. In power supply, photovoltaic inverter, and UPS production, the same feeding principle supports the assembly of high current switching components and control devices. Adjustable guides help match different component profiles, while motor driven, vibratory, or pneumatic mechanisms can be selected according to component size and required feeding rhythm.
