Downstream, the populated tape passes through the cover film application stage. Depending on the batch specification, the factory runs either cold-seal or heat-seal mode. The sealed tape emerges as a finished reel, collected by the motor-driven take-up unit. A line-side handler removes the completed reel and stages it for the SMT placement area. Within minutes, that reel is mounted on a pick-and-place feeder and actively dispensing components onto PCBs moving through the assembly line.
